Systems Approach
At LEAPS, we employ a systems-based approach where we aim to have an overall view to pandemic preparedness; combining research, technology, policy advocacy, and community engagement to build comprehensive solutions.
Our Methodologies
Overall, the research project will test and refine methodologies for pathogen surveillance and countermeasures for better preparedness and response against epidemics and pandemics.
LEAPS will focus on tackling challenges experienced during the SARS-COV2 reported barriers and will track challenges experienced during the research project to further tackle these barriers to feasibility.
A key aspect is evaluating the feasibility of cooperation and exploring possibilities of further harmonization.
- Genomic surveillance
- Epidemiological modelling
- System dynamics modelling
- Social sciences qualitative research
- Science communication
- Health emergency threat assessment
- Medical counter measurement modelling and protocolization
Core Values
Systems Perspective
Adopting a holistic view to understand and address complex challenges.
Iterative Learning
Embracing continuous improvement through learning from experiences and outcomes. Being adaptable to change, especially relevant in our era.
Harmonization
Seeing value in creating common ground and common agreements as a base for collaboration.
Collaboration
Fostering strong partnerships and teamwork to achieve common goals. Promoting working between different fields to widen perspectives.
Stakeholder Involvement
Engaging with a broad range of contributors for more accurate and inclusive decision-making.
One Health Centered
Recognizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, plants and environmental health.
Collaborations with Stakeholders
LEAPS aims to promote collaboration with global (CEPI, WHO), European (HERA, ECDC, EFSA) and national health stakeholders (Belgium, France, Denmark, Greece health agencies) to ensure that the research aligns with population needs.
A three-layered stakeholder engagement approach will be employed:
(1) Consortium Stakeholder Panel, (2) Operational Stakeholder Panel, and (3) Advocacy Stakeholder Panel.
They will help by giving advice, ensuring feasibility, updating with already existing research, sharing ideas and guiding LEAPS to maximize its potential.
