Johan De Tavernier (lead)

Johan De Tavernier is emeritus professor at the Ethics Department of the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at KU Leuven. He was for many years vice dean and dean and taught courses on christian ethics, environmental & animal ethics, engineering ethics and peace ethics to students in religious studies, in engineering and bio-engineering. As director of the expertise centre Ethics@Arenberg (Science, Engineering and Technology Group, KU Leuven) he was and still is involved in eight Metaforum working groups and various ethical committees including “Use of Animals for Research Purposes” and “Dual Use, Military Use & Misuse of Research”. He was chairman of the VLIR University Development Cooperation and still is a (founding) member of the advisory board of the committees on scientific integrity at the Flemish universities. He currently heads the CCV and the Laudato Si’ Institute at Radboud University (Nijmegen). He supervised 35 PhD students and 11 ongoing doctorates. He is still participating in Ethics@KULeuven and a member of the editorial board of Ethical Perspectives.
